So Diwali this year is done, and was definitely a lot more fun than I had anticipated at the beginning of the week. I think I would attribute this to the fact that I actually lit fireworks, and big ones at that, and let me tell you, there's no such feeling like the satisfaction you get from lighting big fireworks. I partook in lighting many kinds of fireworks--those rocket thingies, one of those fireworks that shoots those things into the air 60 times, a similar one that shoots 'em 120 times, and innumerable fountain thingies. We started at 6 and ended at about 9, and our neighborhood was really active. I was on the roof until around midnight, watching fireworks.
Also last night I started 'A Tale of Two Cities'. I'd promised myself that I'd wait until I'd finished the five other books I'm reading, but temptation got the better of me and I read the first four chapters last night. Charles Dickens' language is really good. I read the abridged version of David Copperfield a long time ago, and I totally hated it. But now I actually get to know what Dickens' language was like, so that's cool.
So I have school tomorrow again, after the brief holiday for Diwali, and I must submit my computer and biology records, of which I haven't finished the former. I still have seven friggin' programs left and I'm in a good mind to call up my teacher and call her a retard for assigning us such vague programs. In fact that's exactly what I'm going to do--I'm gonna call her up, and keep annoying her until she elucidates every one of the fucking programs that I can't understand. I mean, hell, all she says is, "Submit it on Thursday", and doesn't even ask if we had any questions. And she's gone before you can catch ahold of her and say, "Look. Explain this", which is just sad, seeing as a teacher's top priority should be making sure his or her students actually understand any of the shit he or she assigns them. And now that I have a mere few hours left to finish this shit, I don't know what to do. And to top it off tomorrow I have a physics practicals class, and the teacher is such an insufferably nefarious scoundrel. The physics practicals record book accounts for about 20 marks in the board exams at the end of this academic year, and in the history of the school no teacher has ever given a student less than 15. But this man flatly told us that he wouldn't hesitate to give anyone a 0 if he finds the slightest mistake in the format, calculatons, etc. Talk about evil.
So late in November this year is my school's annual Sports Day, and I, the reclusive anti-sports person that I am, am going have a ton of free periods because the other dimwits of my grade are going to skip away to do all sorts of nonsense. I mean, I'm not exactly an anti-sports person, since I'm really fond of basketball and all, but it depends on the kind of people you play with. People here are way too rough for comfort and being in their company is kind of like a burden. Besides, I'll have lots of other stuff to do, such as endeavoring to finish those books that I've recklessly begun reading all at once. If you want to know, they are: A Tale of Two Cities--as mentioned above--Twelfth Night, Marker, The House of the Seven Gables, and A Way to Dusty Death. So I was wrong. That makes it four books apart from A Tale of Two Cities. But still, I think there's something I may have missed. It's immaterial right now, since someday I'll end up reading it anyway.
One of my best friends' birthday is coming up this November and frankly, I don't know what to get her. Some friend I am, I know. I don't even know what else she likes and all, because she seems to have everything she could want. I suppose I'll have to get her something in the end, because I didn't last year for the same reason--the fact that I didn't know what to get her.
