We went to a medical college today with our school because the former had set up some sort of an exhibition. We left for it almost immediately after we reached school, and it took some half an hour or so to get there. It's an enormous place, really, and we began our tour of the exhibition at around nine-thirty, after waiting awhile for our teachers to deal with the formalities such as registering our school's name, et cetera. The first room had glass jars with dead fetuses in them, and some with internal organs and other stuff. It was cool, in a morbid way. At least now I know how my brain, lungs, stomach, kidneys, liver, heart and intestines really look. Next we moved on to some more theoretical exhibits, like charts and stuff, and saw a gazillion human bones or so on the way. There was this one room that was called the 'Bone Garden' because it had a large model of a garden made entirely of real human bones--swings, bridges, railings, etc. One room had an adult corpse in a glass case with a layer of the head removed to show the brain. That was rather freaky, and it reminded me of an Egyptian mummy I once saw, except that here the body still had its skin and stuff. There were lots of other rooms, but then came the dissection hall. My friend and I were looking forward to this the most. It had around half a dozen corpses laid down on those metallic tables--Bodies that have been dead for six months to a year. For one of them the chest was cut open and the cavity was visible, and we could see the internal organs and stuff, still intact within the body. There were all sorts of internal organs laid out on the numerous other tables in that hall. And the room reeked. I don't know if it was from the bodies or the disinfectants, but it reeked so much I had to breathe through my handkerchief to keep myself conscious. My friend and I returned here for a second round because we wanted to take pictures, and since I stupidly forgot to get my camera with me, and my friend his, we had to make do with his cell-phone. I was the one who took the pictures. Some of them weren't very good because I had to rush along. (I'll try and post those pics as soon as my friend emails them to me.) There were some videos being shown in classrooms about plastic surgery and post-mortem and stuff, where they actually showed these procedures. It was rather sickening, though I could attribute that to the fact that I had developed a headache, owing to my having walked non-stop around that huge building and inhaling gallons of smelly disinfectants. In the Forensic Sciences wing they had this little room where they simulated various crime scenes using real dead bodies, and that was rather freaky. There was a REAL dead body lying on the floor in a corner with a knife sticking out of its chest, one sitting on a chair with bullet-wounds all over it, three of them hanging by their necks from hooks on the ceiling, and stuff like that. That was actually scary, because these bodies had only died two months or so ago. They bore a greater resemblance to the living than the ones I saw back in the dissection hall. The tour ended shortly after that, and I don't quite remember the details, because my headache intensified and I became all mechanical and stuff, nodding absently when people talked to me, yet not registering a thing. I reached school at precisely 3:30, and home at 3:45.
I went to the doc's at 5 because I had some pending vaccines that really needed attention: tetanus and typhoid. Both my shoulders are still sore. As a result, I wasn't able to play basketball today, and that's really something I have the right to grumble about, because I wasn't able to yesterday either. Tomorrow I will find at least an hour and a half to play, no matter what, and overexert myself physically until I'm satisfied that I've done enough physical activity to earn me my night's sleep and a generous amount of HGH.
I haven't written a new story for some time now, so I was writing a SenRu one-shot today, but stopped because of unforeseen complications: the fact that it bears an uncomfortable resemblance in terms of plot with my other SenRu story--Lunch and Basketball. I won't give up on a potential SenRu one-shot, though, and will try my best to conjure an original plot and mold it into words, and write it, or at least start writing it, tomorrow. That is, if the fandom is willing to read it and can promise me at least one review. No, make that two.
