rant

I'm still here, and my exams are still going on, so please don't ask me why I'm here. I've still got math, geography and physics left--math, being tomorrow--and I'm both surprised and disappointed at my indifference toward the test. This morning, when I was supposed to be practicing at least two sums from each of the 22 topics we have, I found myself reading a chapter of this Mary Sue fic between every two topics in math. How pathetic is that? Granted I'm an incorrigible genius and that I can calculate at the speed of light and get it right, I'm getting rusty of late when it comes to the logic department. Sometimes I find myself at an utter loss to discern anything from a sum that I'm supposed to be doing because my head is all messed up with thoughts that I'm not supposed to be thinking at the time concerned. I end up making the most embarrassing mistakes ever, and honestly, my mathematical reputation is taking a serious blow. And why the fucking hell was I reading a Mary Sue fic?? And I didn't even leave behind a calling card; a flame. Man, I'm losing it. I'm seriously looking forward to the winter break, which by the way, starts right on Christmas day! And that's only because of the fact that my physics exam was postponed to Christmas Eve because some fucked up, retarded political party chose a certain equally fucked up day last week to declare a 'bund' or a close-down in the entire state. And to make matters even worse for me than the fact that my exams have been prolonged by a whole fucking day, my brother keeps talking about stuff he did on his DS, and I can't even touch my DS until the exams get over. Three days is a very long time, really. And on January the first I'm going with my mom to Calcutta for some reason, in the name of winter vacation. I'm not entirely looking forward to going there, despite the fact that I'll be meeting my grandparents and other folks. I'm such a killjoy, I know. But I can't help it. I'm all messed up right now because I wasted the whole morning today and the whole day yesterday instead of taking myself one or two or more steps forward in studying for geography which is motherfuckingly hard, and the day after tomorrow. I'll have less than twelve hours to study tomorrow after returning from school, and who even suggested I'll have the patience to even sit through four? Here's what I have to cover up in geography in one short day: 12 chapters (spanning around 200 pages in a 1 foot by 3/4 foot book), 7-8 different maps (including shit about South Asian capital cities, locations of the various kinds of soils found in SA, food crops, cash crops, and a whole bunch of other physical features whose existence I'm utterly and pathetically ignorant about), and last but not the least, the devil himself, in the form of topographic maps. 20 frigging marks only to go around doing all sorts of embarrassingly stupid stuff with a string and a geometry kit to a fucked up map that looks like it was left behind from the last Martian visit during the Ice Age, and something that is definitely not gonna help me bail myself out if I find my neck under a guillotine someday. Hell, what's the use? Nobody's gonna go: "Ooooh! He knows how to use topographic maps?! Let's promote him to CEO of Microsoft!" If that were the case I'll gladly study my butt off, day in and day out, turning those frigging alien maps till they tear. But sadly, that isn't the case, and I have to waste precious energy and even more precious time doing something I'll probably not even remember a couple of months after the board exams, and something that's definitely not gonna save the world from a World War III. Well, that's life, and that's sad. It's injustice! Torturing an earnest student and misleading him in such immoral, barbaric ways! When I grow up I'm gonna take the pleasure of lighting a match to a book (better yet: books) of topographic maps and watch the all-consuming fire take revenge for me for all the torture it's put me through in my 9th and 10th grades in school. But I can't now: now the book's lighting a match to me.
