I don’t remember the last time I was this happy about finishing a fic. Yeah, today I finished writing Sendoh’s birthday fic, and well, I guess I’ll have to wait until Saturday to post it. I mean the fic’s nothing great or anything, but the fact that it’s a fic for such an occasion as Sendoh’s birthday makes it an inexorable hit with me.
My chemistry test yesterday went pretty well—Really well, considering that I omitted to study just about 5 chapters. In fact, there were only two questions that I couldn’t do. I mean, I couldn’t guarantee that I didn’t make any more mistakes, but that doesn’t seem too likely. Both these mistakes would cost me a mark each, so the highest I can expect in chemistry this time is 78/80, which is roughly equivalent to 98%. Which is obviously not bad. Then again, I shouldn’t be getting too complacent just yet—I don’t know that I didn’t make any more mistakes, and as remote as the contingency of my having made more mistakes may seem now, it’s still not too unlikely. I may have committed one or two other mistakes sporadically (pray that I haven’t) and in a state of absent-mindedness, in which case my score would obviously be lower than 98%.
My math teacher said that she corrected the first section of my paper, and that I’d scored 40/40 marks. That totally dissolved my apprehensions—there was this one sum in Section A that I wasn’t too sure about. Now I have to keep my fingers crossed and hope that I scored the same in Section B, too, and then hope that I’ll be able to score 100% in the Board Exams. My math teacher told me that if I managed to score 100% in the Boards, I’d be the first in my school to do so. Apparently my school has a history of silly mistakes.
I read a chapter off The Second World War because I was beginning to feel that exams are draining my life of intellectuality, and I felt the need to refresh my brain and feel intelligent. For about the same reason I finished another chapter in A Tale of Two Cities today, and am now just 3 chapters short of finishing Book the Second. After the Boards, I will go straight down to the bookstore and satiate the neglected list of books that I want to read, and not to mention myself. Yup. First thing I’ll do is stock up on P.G. Wodehouse’s books, because without them, life barely has any purpose. And along the way I might buy a few more Agatha Christie books because I’ve forgotten the joy of thrillers. And I’ll also take the opportunity and dabble in books by other authors—for experimentation. I just might buy a book or two by some contemporary author just to check out how the present day literary status is. For intellectuality’s sake, and also for poetic satisfaction, I’ll read a play or two by Shakespeare as well.
Yeah, so that was all about the literary ventures I’m planning for the summer break. Yup. There’s a lot to look forward to after the Boards get over.
I have biology tomorrow—a cinch. I finished reading (rather, just skimming through) over half of the textbook in a little over half an hour. The problem only starts after the bio test: I have four of the hardest imaginable subjects in a fucking row: environmental education, history, geography and Hindi. I am doomed—even though I almost finished studying history and I’m a wee bit short of that in geography. I am doomed. And in half an hour I’ll be going to the Hindi tutor to study as much Hindi as is humanly possible for me.
On the 14th we have our farewell party. I’m remotely looking forward to it—and more out of curiosity than anything else. The fact that it’s on the 14th means that all the active couples are going to become even more active, which is plain revolting. I fail to understand what people see in people they ‘like’ which differentiates them from others of the same sex. It’s all open to speculation, I suppose. And on the 16th we have our last school picnic. That’s something I shall be genuinely looking forward to, because it’s been a while since I went on a picnic.
