Just finished reading Chapter 355, and like I’d both expected and hoped, it singularly featured the action in the fake Karakura Town. I was getting more than a little bored of Hueco Mundo and all the melodramatics and enormous twists. But seriously, would it hurt to make the chapters a little longer? I mean 20 pages isn’t even close to amount you need to read to understand anything. Just when you get to the most interesting part of the chapter, it gets over. Cliffhangers are good and all, but it gets infernal when they have one at the end of every tiny chapter. The last time, it was ugly Yammy and his retarded resurrección. This time, Halibel sliced off one whole side of Hitsugaya while in her resurrección, and that’s where the chapter ended. And a few pages before, Omaeda offered the reader a bit of hope when he said that Soifon should remove her limit. But that was snatched away when Soifon said that she had no limit on her. Kyoraku, meanwhile, is getting his hat chopped to pieces by Stark. And he isn’t even using his Shikai. I want to see some Bankai, damn it! No, I’ve had enough of incompetent Hitsugaya’s lame excuse for a Bankai. I want to see some real stuff, like Soifon’s Bankai—I’m assuming she has one—and Kyoraku’s Bankai—he is, after all, one of the strongest captains. And what’s that old Geezer Yamamoto doing? Standing to one side and watching his people being butchered by some Hollows. I’m predisposed to think that he was meaning to replace the 13 Court Guard Squads in the first place. Or maybe it’s just Kubo, who hasn’t come up with an idea of what the aforementioned people’s Bankais should be like, and is thus stalling until it comes to him in an epiphany. I reiterate, Why do these chapters have to be so infernally short? For three whole pages they show this cocoon-like thing surrounding Halibel after she released her Zanpakutō, and it’s only on the second-last page that we see what it’s like. I have to wait 7 whole days before I get to see what happens next, and I’m pretty sure the next chapter’s going to focus on the Hueco Mundo people all over again, and it’s probably going describe how Yammy overpowers those three wusses, and I’ll probably be 80 years old before someone comes along to rescue them. And Hitsugaya and the others had better not be killed—not that I’m a fan of that incompetent midget or anything: it just gives me a feeling of security to know that the good guys are safe. And theoretically, Soul Reapers and Hollows are supposed to counterbalance each other in terms of power, for which purpose, each needs to be as strong as the other. Judging by where the latest chapters of the manga are taking us, I’d say the Hollows are irrefutably superior to the Soul Reapers. Another thing I’ve noticed is that there is an annoying pattern in the plot: Ichigo fights someone, he barely wins, and then someone even stronger comes along. It’s kind of clichéd, really. It starts at the time when Byakuya and Renji came down to the World of the Living to take Rukia back to the Soul Society. Ichigo beats Renji, but Byakuya beats the heck out of him. And then Ichigo beats Renji in the Soul Society, and Kenpachi comes along (although Ichigo did win that battle, too). And then Ichigo beats Byakuya, and Aizen himself materializes on top of Sōkyoku Hill. Ichigo beats Grimmjow in Hueco Mundo, and then Nnoitra comes along. Ichigo beats Ulquiorra, and now Yammy shoves his fat ass into the scene. It’s really annoying: whenever there’s someone truly strong, Ichigo’s unavailable for battle because of his injuries. Talk about bad timing.
