There’s no point in prevaricating I suppose. But the fact that I’m doing so badly in physics this phase is something that I can’t digest no matter how plain it is. I did terribly in physics in the past two tests, and that pretty much brought down my overall score to a level that isn’t nearly good enough to stand out among the crowd. I did reasonably well in both math and chemistry both times, so it’s obviously only physics that threw me overboard. I never liked circular motion—didn’t get much of it in the last phase. But this whole Rotational Mechanics thing is insane. Our physics teacher is brilliant, there’s no doubt about that, but that doesn’t change the fact that I have barely understood anything in his classes lately. Maybe it’s just my inexplicable aversion to the topic, or maybe it’s a result of an inconsistency in reviewing circular motion that sprang up somewhere along the line. But unless I do something about this quick I might find myself failing physics this phase, and I can’t believe I’m actually saying that.
On the other hand, math and chemistry have been going pretty well. Ever since our math teacher changed his style of teaching (which, strangely, a lot of people seem to disapprove of) I’ve realized that my waning interest in math is returning to its former position, and that I’m actually able to understand stuff now. I mean Functions is actually a pretty fun chapter if you know how to go about it. I’ve actually solved three worksheets this past week, which was more than I’d ever been able to do in the last two phases put together, and that kind of a feat, however insignificant it may appear to those who do it habitually, gives you great satisfaction. Chemistry has always (thankfully) been good for me. Our teacher’s great, and I actually get stuff. I finished two worksheets this evening, not so much out because some otherworldly sense of duty overcame me as the fact that when V-dude was doing it in school I was feeling awfully conscious of how little attention I pay to those worksheets that I’ve amassed.
So that’s all well and good, but I’m sure you’re wondering why I spent so much time dwelling on my academic achievements of the day or lack of them, as the case may be. It’s purely out of boredom.
So today I visited my friend’s mom in the hospital, she having recently been through an operation. Apollo Hospital’s new wing is amazing. They call it the “International” something, and it completely lives up to its name. Once you enter it you feel as though you’re in a hotel. So that was pretty cool IMO.
Also, my piano was tuned today, after—what?—three weeks? The guy came from Chennai apparently.
That is all.
