on rejected apps and delayed manga updates

Stanford did not give me admission. I thought that was mean, but then again, I’m the one who was rejected, so it’s natural I would think so. I was a little disappointed at first, but then I learned that some of my brilliant friends who applied to Stanford were turned down as well. Well, Stanford didn’t work out. So now Berkeley’s at the top of my list – both for its location and its academics. Both Stanford and Berkeley are some thirty miles north and south of Fremont respectively. (Or the other way around – who knows?) That’s where my cousin lives, so going to college there would be fun. I will, however, miss the opportunity of visiting the SLAC Linear Accelerator at Stanford. It would have been interesting to see and be part of the research there. Berkeley’s acceptance rate is twice as great as Stanford’s, and going by the number of applications it receives, roughly 10,000 undergraduates are admitted every year – about ten times as many as Stanford admits. I’m hoping Berkeley, at least, works out for me. I wish I could will them to look at my grades more intently than my extracurricular activities, but unfortunately, I can’t. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that my SAT II, AP, and high school scores make up for the obvious deficiencies in my activities list. To be fair, it isn’t deficient in anything per se. It’s just that, on average, Americans tend to participate in a lot more activities.

The next application I’m working on is for University of Washington. It’s a good school, and it is in Seattle, which gives it what people might call “sentimental value”, and it has over 20 libraries. But I still prefer Berkeley over it, obviously. At any rate, right now, I have to prepare for the MIT interview.

On another note, I’ve read all the chapters of Fairy Tail that have been published so far. There should have been an update last week, but none apppeared. Oh well.

I felt terrible about that. All I can say is, that's really Stanford's loss. Ah well. Good luck for UC Berkeley and the rest. When's the interview?

Ah, my counselor said the same thing. But it's all right. Berkeley is great, too. In fact, Berkeley actually ranks ahead of Stanford in most lists. The only problem is that Berkeley has a huge student body in a relatively small campus. That means many of the classes will have 500-800 people in them.
The MIT interview is tomorrow at 4 pm. I'm supposed to do my research on MIT before I go there, naturally. I haven't done it yet. -_-...

So how was the wedding you went to?

Notice my display picture. It's Jellal, the guy with copper sulfate hair from Fairy Tail. :)

So how did the interview go?
The wedding was pretty good. Overload of traditional clothes and all that, but since me and my cousin were kind of the bride's "escorts" everywhere, we were pretty entertained the whole while XD AND my mom managed to plait the fake hair in a French braid thing like Nikita's, so I managed to carry the gold braid thing on it without too much fuss. =P
Ah, I see. Interesting =)

Glad you had fun wearing the fake hair. I can't imagine how it might feel, or I might have said more on the topic. But oh well...XD

Just for the record, I'm changing my blogger username after this. Vat of Boiling Acid has lost the appeal it once had. Just so you don't mistake me for an online stalker, I'll tell you right now that I'll call myself: Kaiser Argentine.
It's a variant. Don't ask. Argentine, by the way, has nothing to do with Argentina, but is an adjective that I made up that means "of or pertaining to silver".

Cool. I like silver. As you can tell from my blog's address. =P

I like silver, too. It's eerie, surreal, and beautiful (to use a word that I never use). Gold, though many people prefer it, is too bright and gaudy a color to have any kind of appeal. Let's be profound and philosophical for a moment. Silver represents the intellect, which is undervalued in today's world, and gold represents base pleasures. ;)
