Today I went to FIITJEE after a very long time to get my marks memo and other things, and unexpectedly met Nicky there. It was a pleasant surprise. I also witnessed a most disturbing breech of the FIITJEE Code of Conduct when BS, the incompetent French Teacher who has nothing in the way of a personality to make up for his incompetence, walked sanguinely down the corridor with a wine bottle in his hand. He made no effort to conceal it when I passed him, and did not walk with the anxious gait of one who wants to get out of danger zone quickly. He glided like a disembodied spirit past the chemistry section, and then the physics section, holding the bottle up in the air like a trophy. “C’est mon vin,” I imagine he would have said to the other French teacher (Verma), consulting the English-to-French dictionary, when the latter eyed the bottle lustily.
I also met Venkat today. Nicky and I wished him a good afternoon, and I accidentally called him “sir”. I am no longer a FIITJEE student, and therefore should have said something like, “Venkat, you diminutive, uppity rascal! Been guzzling aldehydes again, have you? You’d better go to Baba Sudhakar’s cabin and make acetals with his alcohol to protect your aldehydes from indiscriminate reduction by apples!”
Then I passed Lenny’s cabin. Lenny, with a wistful smile on his face, much like the one a bank robber would have worn when he realized, after demanding that the employees turn over all their cash to him, that he had left his gun on his dressing table, asked me how the IITJEE and the AIEEE went, and if I had taken any other entrance tests. He lapsed into a state of silent reflection when I told him I was going to America for college. I left while he was still staring at a point at infinity. I didn’t get to see Bandana, though. I was kind of looking forward to seeing her with that new haircut of hers. I hear it’s bizarre. And this entry could have done with another paragraph, but oh well…

*cracks up laughing* Oh, that was perfect. Baba and Verma and Venkat and Lenny and Benny... all perfect XDXD
Heck, I wanted to see Benny's new haircut myself, but then I thought I might have to embarrass myself telling her about my dismal performance everywhere. I hid in the Internal Library when I saw Lenny coming my way, and as for Babs and Venkat, well, we saw them together. But I would have paid hard cash to hear you say that to Venkat! Apples! =P
Lenny's bank robber expression is priceless. I wish we got a few photos of that at school, but he hardly wears it in class-- it's always in his cabin. XD
And speaking of my dismal performance, the official key for the JEE is out. I gained 34 freaking marks from it!! That pulls up my score to a 203. Stupid fiitjee key had all the wrong answers for the multiple correct questions, so I had assumed I'd lost all my marks there. Even Nikki gained 26 marks or so. Some people lost marks, though. And some questions are marked as 'marks for all'. Ah well. At least I have a 200+ (barely, actually) to speak of. Because 169 was really insulting-- I've gotten more than that on every phase test. Sigh.
Somehow, I can never forgive Baba for being the douchebag that he is. Remember, at the start of second year, we couldn't find a single thing about him to make fun of?
I'll bet Benny looks like a flight attendant in one of India's low-cost airlines - maybe Kingfisher Red (formerly Air Deccan), or something of that standard. ("Can I get you pretzels that integrate themselves by parts?")
Good move. Engaging a vapid old bird like Lenny in conversation at a time when the last thing you need is for a chemistry teacher to wave his aura of denial in your face, like the veiled woman from that poem by Sarojini Naidu, would inevitably make you remember all the meaningless physical chemistry classes we had to sit through. And yes, apples! :))
Gosh, there's an official key? I don't think I'll check it until after the JEE results come out, but I sure hope my score goes up instead of down, even though it doesn't matter that much anymore.
