Some kind of revolution appears to have taken place at FIITJEE (according to a reliable source of mine), and just when it seemed that the dictatorial organization couldn't become any more psychopathic, we (my batch) had to show up and make things worse with our spectacularly poor results. Now the juniors (bless their souls) have school every day (that's right - every day - no tacit exclusion of Sunday) from 7a.m. to 3p.m. It reminds you of that dumb horse in Orwell's Animal farm - Boxer - the one that strove to work harder every time things didn't go as planned. After employing every method of ratiocination known to the human mind, I have failed to understand why those retards (the FIITJEE administration) think torturing their students to the point of making them age at ten thousand times the normal rate will yield the desired results.
Next. Students are not allowed to mark their answers on the question paper anymore. This draconian law was made after a student named Malla Reddy (a digression: the landlord of the house we had rented when we had just moved to India was named Malla Reddy. He was 91 years old in 2003, and died a few years ago. I have always been fascinated by longevity, hence the honorable mention.) got the fourth rank in one of the tests by copying the answers from someone else's question paper. Trust FIITJEE to react so violently to an isolated incident. Not even the IITJEE forbids you to mark answers on the question paper. Some students can only think clearly if they see what they have done; sometimes, it becomes absolutely necessary to mark your answer, because the answer options all look so similar. While it may prevent future Malla Reddys from cheating their way into the top ten, it will also have the inevitable effect of making testing gratuitously difficult for everyone else.
Finally, FIITJEE now prohibits students from leaving campus during the lunch break. There are a McDonald's and a Subway and a few other eateries close by, and students who are forced to work in conditions such as FIITJEE's are often desirous of eating good food. Mothers don't like cooking at 5.30 or earlier in the morning. And starving is better than eating the garbage they sell at the FIITJEE canteen. So what's wrong with eating outside? It had always been permitted in the past, and can't possibly have any connection with a student's grades. Of course, there are those who would take the opportunity to skip the afternoon classes and go home (this wasn't possible in my day, since classes ended at one, and lunch was had at home), but that's their problem. As sixteen- and seventeen-year-olds, they are fully aware of the consequences of their skipping classes, and confining them to the classroom wouldn't be of much use. Why ruin the lives of those who are sincere enough to return at the end of the break? Very often, the difference between a full and an empty stomach (or one filled with trash) is the difference between a sincere student and a slacker.
And what will FIITJEE do when these students do shockingly badly in the IITJEE, contrary to what they had expected? Hold classes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or longer, I would imagine. It's not unlikely: other IITJEE coaching institutions (concentration camps), such as Sri Chaitanya and Narayana, are already doing it. The only thing I can give these unfortunate victims of mind rape is sympathy. What can you do, when parents encourage it? What can you do, when students are deluded into believing it will actually help them to develop intellectually? Concentration camps like FIITJEE never stood for anything - they never stood for education, values, or development. Some opportunistic pseudo-educationalists saw a lucrative opportunity in exploiting the joint entrance exam of the greatest Indian engineering schools, and what followed was this mind holocaust.
Unfortunately, I already used the term "concentration camp" to describe FIITJEE as it was in my time; so now it's officially impossible to capture the full horror of that degenerate cult of misanthropic brain killers using any combination of words in any language known to man. Someday, in a not-so-distant future, IIT aspirants will be living in padded cells, singing "We Shall Overcome" in a collective monotone, while continuously solving test papers like uncomprehending automatons.
