sd manga and stuff

I read chapters 198-278 of Slam Dunk today (which is everything that happens after the anime ends), and boy was it exciting. There's no point in summarizing it here, so I will keep my ravings short. During the Sannoh game it was interesting to see that Kainan was rooting for Shohoku. Was it because they were from the same prefecture or because Kainan had lost horribly to Sannoh the previous year? Probably a little of each. Dai Moroboshi's remark that Rukawa was almost at Sawakita's level, uttered from high atop the pedestal on which stood the best players in Japan, means by the transitive property that Sendoh is a little more than almost at Sawakita's level. The fact that Sawakita's a prodigious freak gives him a slight edge over his sublunary rivals. I think that if Ryonan had somehow managed to qualify for the National Tournament, using the cheat codes outlined in a recent entry of mine, they would have done very well; and Sendoh would then have gone from become a household name to one that was uttered in the most private bedchambers. Might try to pen a fanfic now, even though I have not been struck by any sort of inspiration.

I seem to have injured my back again doing absolutely nothing. The last time this happened, which was only about a month ago, I had the excuse of having done a great deal of uphill running after a period of not having run much at all. But now it seems that I am hard pressed to find an excuse to conceal the evident fragility of my body - other than maybe that I was hauling a heavy vacuum cleaner up and down flights of stairs in the morning. (But is that good enough?) As I result, I decided that it might be excusable to do nothing this Saturday, with the result that I ended up reading the Slam Dunk manga.

This is my last weekend in Atlanta at any rate. I go back to school on Friday. That means getting ready for a new semester, another fourmonth of unremitting classes and assignments and projects, of talking to people and participating in competitions, to be rewarded in tee shirts, if we are lucky. If we are lucky, books will have been read by the time I go home in December. Then I might pick up the basketball, and see if I am still able to channel my older self, and pretend that I have not grown the older and the more fragile with every year that had passed.

The solution, of course, is more anime, more manga, and more fan fiction, and recording these mundane things on our blogs - for future reference, or for the restoration of a tired mind at the end of a thankless day of toiling.
