Today was my last day at work. Thursday is a weird day to quit, but I have to be on campus on Friday. During a presentation I was part of today, lightning struck somewhere close by, and set off a car alarm. It was close enough that the flash and the thunder seemed to occur at the same instant. One might describe the effect as cataclysmic, if one were familiar with that word. (I contend that in this preceding sentence the use of the subjunctive is valid.) I think I learnt quite a lot during these past twelve weeks (a day short of twelve weeks, actually), and more importantly caught a glimpse of how the corporate organism functions from the inside. There's still a good deal of time, I think, before I have to decide what to do with my life. I mean, what else to do with my life, of course, since I pretty much have all the unimportant things figured out.
On other news, I'm working on romantic comedy fic for Slam Dunk whose first chapter I wrote way back in 2010 but never uploaded. It's kind of psychedelic, but for that reason frees me from the responsibility of coming up with a mature and sensible plot. I put up the second chapter last night. That was fun to write, too, but I think the difference in my writing style between now and three-and-a-half years ago is perceptible. I might work on that other story that I started writing way back in 2009 (the one with all the pairings that I sensible sheared down only to two) next, although that is without a doubt plotless, and I should probably never let it see the light of day. But it's a SenRu, I think, so it might attract a few positive reviews.
I'm mostly done packing, and shall leave for the airport before the crack of dawn. That means I should probably go to bed soon, even though it's not even 9:30 PM. Four of my friends (that is to say, four out of the six-odd friends I've made since the start of college) and I are moving into an apartment this year, as I may or may not have mentioned. That means cooking my own whole grain rice. Oh, right, I neglected to mention that I realized a couple of days ago that I might be sensitive to gluten. I'd never noticed it before, so I imagine that it's been getting worse with time. I'll have to get it checked out. This probably means no more pizza. Or pasta. Ever. I guess I can live with that.
