gibberish + bleach 562

Two exams and less than a week left before winter break starts. I know I should be studying more for Classical Mechanics than I am, but life is easier this way. The fact that I worked through the second midterm (the one that was happily or unhappily canceled due to a fire alarm-related travesty that you can read about in an earlier entry) yesterday should be some vindication. I shall have a few days to study for the GRE once I get back. Heck, I don't even know what the format is. I should sign up for another test posthaste, since I am almost certain to do badly on this one. My muse otherwise has completely deserted me. Even writing blog entries has become difficult. I think I've turned into a retarded person.

[Spoilers ahead]

As people on the Bleach subreddit predicted, Renji has completely taken over from the visoreds in the battle against Mask. Kubo seems very eager to display the extent of his OPness. (Of course, people on the Bleach subreddit argue, Renji got to train in the Spirit King's realm, so it's no surprise that he's more powerful than 3/4ths of the captains.) Rose's Bankai, which was destroyed no later than he had whipped it out (Is this construction allowed? Why the hell not?), was at least awesome enough that we can let Rose's completely embarrassing loss slide away unseen. Kensei was beaten to a pulp shortly before. And now Renji shows up, and easily overpowers (so far as we can see) all by himself the thing that was responsible for the above. I guess I never really cared much for the visoreds. None of them - not even Shinji - ever deserved to be a captain, from what we've seen. They were probably weaker even than Renji before his OP training. Their deaths would save the Gotei 13 some face, and let Yamamoto rest in peace. I would be perfectly happy to see Renji become a captain after this. Which brings us back to Byakuya. People on the Bleach subreddit are of the opinion that Byakuya is one of the weaker captains, since we know the extent of his power, and it is generally agreed that the strong captains haven't been shown in battle yet. (Not a whole lot anyway.) If this is true I'm disappointed in Kubo. It's now incumbent on him to make Byakuya OP like Renji and Rukia, and therefore one of the stronger captains, because nothing else would justify not letting him die in peace when he was clearly on the brink of death. Unless, out of some sick sense of poetic justice, Kubo wants to show people that Renji has indeed become more powerful than Byakuya, and forces Byakuya to live out the rest of his days in silent quotidian humiliation. That would be low. Even for Kubo.
