Another year ends. Alas, this time two of our esteemed comrades will be graduating, and we shall never again see them in the capacity we are accustomed to. I do hope I shall manage to overcome my inevitable tendencies against staying in touch with people, and actually stay in touch with these guys. They have done much to define my present conception of college life, and I imagine that next year will be very different indeed.

I have finished packing. All my worldly possessions fit comfortably in eight boxes and a suitcase, with the exception of the suitcase I'm taking home and a ton of other stuff elsewhere. I shall sleep, as always the night before the year ends, and if I do sleep at all, on a bare mattress. Then I shall depart tomorrow ere anyone else has awoken--this time to a certain magnificent city i' th' Nor'west instead of a certain large peninsula.

As for finals, they were a travesty. The 421 final went all right, though I had expected otherwise; the 473 final was a disaster, though I had expected otherwise. My last programming assignment in 421 received a zero, because I had forgotten to remove an incomplete line of code before turning it in that caused it not to be graded. I answered a long-answer question on my philosophy exam today with "I wish I knew". The silver lining in all this is that I got a research project this summer with the 421 professor's research group--the very professor whose class I failed with spectacular backwards somersaults. I didn't actually fail the class... I think.
