binoculars into the future

So to speak. Just twenty-three more days till I depart for GA Tech, where I'll meet up with Nicky after nearly two years. I am excited. Hopefully she'll be able to get back to updating her blog, so we can keep track of each other's life in a purely Internet way. Also so that I can save myself from being bogged down by things of the past, which a cursory glance over the front page of this blog will show you is what most of my thoughts and concerns in recent times have pertained to. Slam Dunk is an exception, of course, since I don't look on it as a thing of the past. It has been with me as I have grown up, and is very much a continuing part of my life. Slam Dunk is eternal. ("Tell me something I don't know. :D," is what my readers are probably thinking.)

I have spent this summer mooching off my parents, as it were, while others I know have been out working their asses off at jobs that will probably make their resumes shine like teeth brushed with Colgate or, really, any name-brand toothpaste. This will probably be my last real "summer break", so in some twisted way I feel vindicated for doing nothing. Especially since I've been writing/editing and uploading/re-uploading fan fiction like a dude possessed.

Oh, yesterday I was at the high school graduation party of someone I know. I mean, I knew them pretty well when we all lived in India, but they moved back years ago, and we kind of lost touch after that. High school graduation, because he is the younger brother of the kid I was friends with, though our friends circle at the time seemed to be composed of people of my age group and their younger siblings - basically people of all ages - so who is to say that I wasn't friends with this kid? But I digress. This kid was apparently the champion point guard of his school's basketball team, and most of the things people said about him pertained to his godlike basketball skills. Like that time when he stepped out onto the court in sophomore year, and the opposing team was all, "Who's this guy?" A relatively short Indian dude playing point guard. And then he went and made three three-pointers in a row, and the opposing team was all, "Who's this guy? We need to guard him!" He's grown significantly since. Anyway, it suddenly occurred to me that he's practically a Slam Dunk character. That's all there is to this story.
