I am aware that my blog posts are usually humorous and bubbly (if not always humorous and mordant, which is what I would like), but this is going to be a departure from that, because I can no longer keep pretending that I am other than woe itself. For starters, I'm probably going to get a poor grade on this last algorithms homework that S. V.* invidiously dumped on us days before the midterm, which is on Friday. I guess I couldn't focus on it for a variety of other reasons, namely the distributed computing midterm, which is tomorrow.
*Is it weird that S. V. appeared to me in a dream last night, in which he sent for my dad, as teachers would do in high school, and told him that I had the "gift"? I suppose Freud was not entirely off the mark with his wish-fulfillment theory of dreams.

Casper (distributed computing) was careful to emphasize that, if students were suicidal before the exam, the exam would help them make up their mind. He chuckled in bursts as he relayed this portentous message (not in so many words, I must confess), confirming his provenance beyond the grave. I am now convinced that it was a mistake signing up for this course, but it's too late to do anything about it. I might have dropped it without a second thought, if I had been registered for four courses, as most people are; but I am in fact only registered only for three, for reasons that could fill a whole 'nother blog post. There's also the fact that I feel that distributed computing is something that I ought to know about, so I'm loath to run away from it.
Lastly, I seem to have fallen prey to certain things that will no doubt curtail my running career once again. And I think it's time I accepted that running is simply not my thing. If I want exercise, then I can avail of the perfectly good equipment at the Recreation Center, which for the record, excepting the sorry state of the locker room, is pretty awesome. Hopefully I shall still be able to play basketball when I go back home, otherwise I might just begin walking with an exaggerated limp like Dr. House, cane and all, and shower people with my sarcasm.
