Spring break is just about over. This past week has just flown by. For some reason the academic year at GT seems structurally different from that at UIUC. I can't really describe it in words that will make sense to someone who isn't 40% crazy. Somehow in undergrad spring break tended to mean that the most grueling part of the semester was behind me, whereas it doesn't quite carry the same happy connotations here. When I go back to my classes on Monday, it will be as if I never left. Sometime next week I will have to meet up with the smug face of my ridiculous project partner. I choose my words carefully, because I want it to be known that my project partner is a ridiculous human being. Doubtless he has a mother who loves him, and this very fact is one of the many things that's wrong with the world. A person like my ridiculous project partner should quite simply not exist outside the pages of a nineteenth-century encyclopedia of mental pathologies. I cleave to the hope that he will be recognized for the basket case that he is fairly soon into his career, and it is with this happy thought that I continue associating with him for the remainder of the semester.
But even that irrelevant little twerp doesn't come close to ASB in terms of sheer odiousness. I know I've already written some unseemly things about her - things that I would be loath to put on my blog were it not unlisted - but I can't help being driven into an almost apoplectic fit every time I think about her and all our online communities assignments. No one should be permitted to teach such a waste-of-time class past preschool. It drives me up the wall to think that someone studying online communities and someone engaging in actual useful research in more serious fields should both be called "professor", as if their work were equally important. I remember saying unseemly things about Casper last semester, but I conceded afterward that that was all in the heat of the moment. Not so with ASB. There will be no forgiveness, no retraction of words ex post facto. If the Vatican were in the business of declaring people to be demons as they declare people to be saints, the first name I would nominate would be that of ASB. No one deserves it more than she does.
