panama papers

I was supposed to be watching lecture videos prior to OS, but I can't stop thinking about the Panama Papers. As the world doubtless knows, a massive leak was made public, the details of which may be found on any passably decent news website. Here's the newspaper that went public with it. You can find details of the leak on the subreddit devoted to the Panama Papers. I'm quite frankly blown away by the magnitude of the corruption that was revealed in this one fell swoop. I'm not surprised that corruption was so widespread; but that it was so centralized? Needless to say, the company that was the victim of these leaks is complaining that its right to privacy was violated. Well, boo hoo. I am not at this moment possessed of the literary afflatus necessary to expatiate on this topic, so I will end on an ethical note. You can debate whether Edward Snowden's 2013 leaks were ethical or justified - whether they compromised the fight on terrorism and put people's lives at risk; but you can't deny that a leak like the present one is completely justified and very welcome. It's good to see that journalists are doing their job, too. A breath of fresh air, you might say, after the sort of articles that CNN has been flooding its servers with. I am reminded of the Chinese curse that I no doubt picked up from mentalparticipant somewhere: May you live in interesting times.
