shitty.com

A pun on Shaadi.com. Lame pun, I know; but then shaadi.com is a shitty site. A couple of days ago I found a notification from shaadi.com in my inbox. Why my spam filter, normally scrupulous in keeping my inbox free from emails pertaining - among other shitty things - to shaadi, had failed in its duties in this instance, I don't know. How a personage named Pinki Sharma had got ahold of my email address, I don't know. And why a person named Pinki Sharma - if indeed there exist real flesh-and-blood people in this world whose parents thought it all right to name their daughter Pinki Sharma - would add my email address to her account, I don't know. But then it's not my job to speculate on the nature of madness - it's Dr. Phil's. Before long, my inbox was flooded with emails from unemployed jackoffs who were sending out mass emails to prospective brides in the hope of maximizing their chances of running into someone who was just inebriated enough to say yes to their advances.

Shaadi.com sucks on multiple levels. Its core idea is a good one, I guess - both from a business as well as from a culturally sensitive standpoint - but the creators should have anticipated the kind of people their website would attract. People like the ones whose "invitations to connect" I found sitting in my inbox all weekend. What these ARMCHAIR LOVERS need is a lesson in life of the sort that only real-life rejection can deliver to them. Shaadi.com does nothing to curb their proliferation. It has failed every decent moral precept in this regard.

As a happy epilogue to this shitty, shitty tale, let me tell you how I dealt with my present problem. I was pondering how to shut down Pinki Sharma's marriage cartel when I suddenly realized that my email address - the one that Pinki "Shitty" Sharma had registered with shaadi.com - could also be used to log into the website. From there it was a simple matter to reset "my" password and delete "my" account. I'm sure Pinki Sharma - if she is even a real person - has been most distressed all weekend at the lack of responses to what she thinks is a most alluring profile. (I happened to glimpse her profile picture in the passing. "Alluring" is not an adjective I would have thought to use.) With all this talk of marriage equality here in the United States, I think we can all agree that people like Pinki Sharma most definitely do not deserve the right to get married, and it would be better for society as a whole if the Constitution of India included an amendment explicitly prohibiting marriage to Pinki Sharma.

Read this at work and burst out laughing. Had to explain why to my intern partner. xD
"What these ARMCHAIR LOVERS need is a lesson in life of the sort that only real-life rejection can deliver to them" - so spot on.
I wonder though, one can make shaadi.com profiles without a confirmation email? That's just asking for fraud and spam and all sorts of filth.

Apparently you can, which is fucking stupid. Then again, this is shaadi we're talking about - not marriage, which is generally a solemn and serious affair.
Brides on shaadi.com tend to arrive with barcodes stamped onto the foreheads. I wonder what the return policy is and if they have deals like buy 1 get 1 free...
It's worth looking into.
