Just when I thought the battle was becoming formulaic, Titkubs breaks with monotony and gives us something so priceless that it feels like gazing upon a once-in-a-lifetime astronomical phenomenon. Aizen must have made his reappearance a hundred-odd chapters ago, but it wasn't until recently that he began to assume a prominent role in the war. For his own reasons, he seems to be teaming up with Ichigo to defeat Yhwach, probably because of some heartwarming sentiment like: "Soul Society is mine to destroy." And Aizen has indeed entered the entered the fray in momentous fashion. So characteristically Aizen. His half-smirk whenever he appears thoroughly warms the heart, even though he is clearly eclipsed by Yhwach in terms of power. (I wonder how that sits with his pretensions to transcendence. Does it rankle? Or has he finally begun taking a realistic view of things?)
He carries on blissfully hypnotizing all and sundry, even when Yhwach uses time travel hacks to destroy Kyoka Syugetsu from the future, as he seems to have a penchant for doing with people's Zanpakutos. Hado 99! I can hardly contain my excitement. It looks magnificent, too, even though Yhwach, predictably, avoided getting hit. I have to hand it to Yhwach, he is magnificently powerful. Totally deserving of being the ultimate villain in Bleach.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I was watching an episode of the X-Files recently, and in one of the episodes there was a character whose powers were eerily similar to Aizen's. Could he have provided the inspiration for Aizen, I wonder? He controlled sound waves to make his victims hallucinate so hard that hallucinating being shot with bullets actually killed them and left bullet wounds in their internal organs.
