"rongdhenu"
Apparently the West Bengal Council for Higher Education has seen fit to replace the traditional Bengali word for rainbow, ramdhenu or Lord Rama's bow (I am told, though my command of the Bengali language is such that this was as much news to me as its successor was to the natives), with rongdhenu or colorful bow (?) in textbooks, presumably because the reference to the Hindu deity rustled the jimmies of people whose favor the regnant political party wished to curry for future elections - viz., the Mohammedans. Now, I'm the last person to respect anyone's religious sentiments, and can generally be spotted in the front lines of any mass effort to blaspheme established religious fetishes, especially if there's no good reason for it, but forced linguistic revisionism by people in authority is something I will not brook under any circumstances. The nerve of politicians who perpetrate things like this and expect to get away with it is astounding. It only goes to show, I suppose, that the plague of SJWs and doublespeak is no longer confined to a blasé and intellectually dishonest subsection of the First World. One expects that the next World War will be fought with euphemisms and politically expedient gibberish by soldiers who shudder to death at the slightest suggestion that they might have offended someone.
