Early this morning, Nanochip gave me an amazing gift in the form of a video of FIITJEE's D. K. Goyal coming clean off his hinges and blowing up on a Zoom call with other FIITJEE center leaders (if they can be called that). I implore you, if you haven't done so, to stop reading now and go watch that video. It has to be seen to be believed. I always knew the people at the top of FIITJEE were scum; it hadn't occurred to me that they would drop their pants and show off their scumminess so openly. FIITJEE has always loved to use education's traditional association in Hinduism with godhood (Saraswathi's veena is in its logo) to moralize about their existence and goals. Heck, the director of our blighted Saifabad Center – one Anandaraman, referred to in my stories as Anantharaman – literally cosplayed as a priest. To see FIITJEE, which had spuriously claimed the moral high ground for so long, reduced to swearing like a common street thug fills me with the faith that karma, no matter how delayed, will always arrive in the end.
I would love to have been a part of that Zoom call. I would have added my own grievances to the comments stream to provoke that ridiculous angry man further. I'm disappointed that the persons on the call, with the obsequiousness characteristic in Indian culture of people in any kind of social hierarchy, who regard those above them as gods who own their souls, didn't. They had very legitimate, legal reasons to call that asshole out for withholding pay under the guise of trying to motivate them to work harder or for claiming to have fallen on hard times while simultaneously investing in the EdTech sector. I wish the statue of the Buddha next to D. K. Goyal in his video had come to life and rubbed his pig face in his own shit to highlight his hypocrisy.
I can only hope that D. K. Goyal has a wife who once loved him and children who once looked up to him so that their horror and disgust at being associated with this miserable excuse for a human touches some part of his conscience and makes him feel the shame that he didn't feel while he was spewing diarrhea on the call in abandon with cheeks spread wide in front of the camera. I want that feeling to follow him for the rest of his life until he gets mercifully returned to his component elements.
